Honoring Heroes Through Roses

Columbus Rose Club President Dr. Jim Hering recently demonstrated how roses can symbolize remembrance and honor. As part of a community effort with OhioHealth Marion General Hospital and local volunteer group TWIG VI, Dr. Hering donated a ‘Never Forget’ shrub rose to honor our nation’s veterans.

The rose was planted during a heartfelt ceremony on November 11, 2024, as part of the hospital’s dedication of a ‘Never Forget Garden’ — a space meant to honor the enduring legacy of America’s fallen heroes. Dr. Hering, a retired surgical physician, veteran, and dedicated community member, emphasized the importance of honoring those who served, saying, “This rose serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our military heroes, and the white petals represent our lasting gratitude and commitment to never forget them.”
